Powered by the largest displacement engine in its class, this groundbreaking model promises to be the point of reference in the multipurpose side-by-side category, setting new benchmarks in a number of areas.

"We know how great the Pioneer 1000 performs, and the excitement from our dealers and customers in anticipation of the model's availability reinforces the demand for a flagship side-by-side from Honda," said Lee Edmunds, Manager of Motorcycle Marketing Communications at American Honda. "Today we confirmed pricing for all four model types, and we are excited to offer this new model at an incredible value for our customers."

Four Pioneer 1000 models will be offered—two in the five-person configuration and two in the three-person arrangement. Honda's continuing effort to minimize the environmental impact of its operations took another step forward today as it opened a compressed natural gas (CNG) fueling station on its property in Troy, Ohio.

The CNG station, which was designed, constructed and will be operated by Trillium CNG, is the second public CNG station located on a Honda property in North America, following one opened at Honda of America Mfg. in Marysville, Ohio in August.

As part of its overall vision to reduce total company CO2 emissions by 50 percent by the year 2050, Honda is working to minimize the environmental impact of its parts distribution operations through its "green fleet" programs. The program is part of a strategy that has seen Honda reduce the CO2 emissions intensity of its parts shipments by 37 percent since 2009 and reduce waste sent to landfills from parts distribution centers by 99.3 percent.

"The American Honda Parts and Service Division is pleased to partner with Trillium on a Natural Gas fueling option at our Troy, Ohio site," Steven Bailey, Vice President, Parts Operations. "We have been using CNG in California with great success, and testing it in Texas as well. We are very excited about this new opportunity to expand our CNG network and reduce emissions, while maintaining world class delivery service to our dealerships."

The CNG station is located at the intersection of S. Stanfield Rd and Commerce Center Blvd. in Troy, Ohio, near Honda's parts consolidation and distribution operations. The station will feature two Class 8 dispensers for over-the-road carriers and can also serve customers who drive CNG-fueled passenger cars as well.

The fully automated station is intended both to provide service to those that have already adopted the use of CNG, and to encourage and facilitate suppliers and logistics partners to adopt and expand its use in the trucks used in support of Honda operations.

About Honda
Honda established operations in America in 1959 and now employs more than 39,000 associates in its North American sales, R&D and manufacturing operations with total capital investment in North America exceeding $22 billion.

In order to provide outstanding service to their dealerships and customers, Honda operates 12 major parts consolidation and distribution centers in the U.S.

This gives Honda the capacity to ship service parts and accessories to all of their Automobile, Motorcycle and Power Equipment dealers in the country, along with export operations to 56 different countries. Honda's dedicated Parts delivery fleet utilizes over 230 tractors and drives over 106,000 miles every night to provide overnight parts delivery to 97% of their Honda and Acura automotive dealers.

Honda's Environmental Commitment
Based on its vision of "Blue Skies for our Children," Honda is working to advance technologies that address society's environmental and energy concerns. The company's "Green Path" approach seeks to reduce or eliminate the use of substances of concern (SOCs) and scarce natural resources in the design of its vehicles, significantly reduce the CO2 intensity and water use of its manufacturing operations, continue to decrease CO2 emissions from the transportation of vehicles from its plants to dealers, and expand the involvement of U.S. Honda and Acura dealers in its "Green Dealer" program.

In keeping with its commitment to produce vehicles with the lowest CO2 emissions at plants with the smallest environmental footprint, the company is broadly addressing emissions, energy, water use and waste in all phases of its products life cycles. In the manufacturing realm, this includes a 95 percent reduction in waste sent to landfills in North America. Honda is working to extend its "green factory" and "green purchasing" initiatives to its more than 650 parts suppliers in North America and is also pursuing more environmentally responsible business practices among its U.S. dealers.

These activities reinforce Honda's goal to voluntarily reduce its total corporate CO2 emissions by 50 percent by the year 2050, compared to 2000 levels. In 2006, Honda was the first auto company to voluntarily and publically commit to global reductions in its CO2 emissions.
